I have to admit, I don't think I ever got the full 60 grams per day in the beginning.  Maybe it was his way of saying, "Do the best you can."  :)

Thanks Ravens. That was my initial thought!

My doc wants me to have at least 70, but preferable 100.

I have a DS, so my daily protein requirements are quite a bit higher. My surgeon's immediately post-op goals were 30 grams by 30 days, 60 grams by 60 days, and 90 grams by 90 days. I imagine that's pretty much what your surgeon is suggesting, too.

In the beginning, my Doc and Dietician said the goal was 60-80g protein a day and 64 oz liquid... they didn't expect you to get to it day1... they said 'work up to it' ....keep on sipping and keep working at it, if you are having a protein shake a day you can easily get your 30g. Good Luck!

my doctor said in the first few weeks he is more concerned about keeping hydrated and learning how to intake the fluids. of course your protein is important but keeping hydrated is very important as it will lead to other issues. Dont expect to be able to do everything at first. you have to learn your new body. My doctor said drinking from a kids sippy cup can really help in taking small amount with little air too. Hope that helps. Good Luck
