At my 10 day post op Dr. Appointment
If you didn't understand what he meant, why didn't you ask him? Since I was not there, I have no way of knowing what he meant.
Please note: I AM NOT A DOCTOR. If you want medical advice, talk to your doctor. Whatever I post, there is probably some surgeon or other health care provider somewhere that disagrees with me. If you want to know what your surgeon thinks, then ask him or her. Check out my blog.

I have come across so many rude people during my weight loss journey. If people don't have anything nice or helpful to say then don't say it at all. I hate seeing "support" sites with people being ugly to people. There is no need for it and its not necessary. Sorry getting off my soap box now. I'm sorry she responded to you that way. In the beginning it is really hard to get that much protein in. Your doing good if you can get 30 grams in, you will eventually get to 60-80. Hang in there. Your doing great!
Hi Poodlemac
I had my surgery on Oct 6th. My Dr instructions were to work up to 70 grams of protein daily. At first I had trouble getting to 20, then went up to 40 grams protein and my Dr was ok with building gradually getting in more protein. The nurse's kept saying these are numbers to shoot for protein, that everyone is different and to keep adding protein powder until you reach the goal set for you. Good luck it may take a while
he told me he'd be happy with my getting 30 gm, not necessarily the req'd 60 gm protein a day. What does that mean? Am I losing too slowly/quickly?
did you tell him you were having trouble getting the 60 gm of protein in a day? If you did, I would imagine his response meant he would be happy if you could only get 30 right now, and work to increase it. If you didn't tell him that then,I don't know what he meant and I don't think anyone else would know his mind either.
I don't think that comment would have anything to do with your rate of loss at this point.
I have to admit, I don't think I ever got the full 60 grams per day in the beginning. Maybe it was his way of saying, "Do the best you can." :)
