Kristina, a Band would be a very BAD idea for someone with your BMI. In fact, the form of WLS that's statistically best for folks with a BMI greater than 50 is called the Duodenal Switch. If you haven't researched it already, you really should before you make your decision, in fact before you start trying to choose a surgeon.

James, you have a BMI of 75. Does your surgeon offer the Duodenal Switch? While I think the VSG is a great surgery, the DS has the very BEST long-term, maintained weight-loss stats, especially for those of us who have a BMI greater than 50. It's also the best at resolving or preventing diabetes and high cholesterol.
In your situation, I'd really want to research ALL my options and chose my surgery type for MYSELF, based on my particular health concerns. You know you far better than any surgeon ever can.
