Hospital bill for VSG & RNY

RNY on 08/13/14

I just received the hospital bill for my VSG on 8/12/14 and RNY on 8/13/14. $100,006. WHOA. I don't owe anything except my $250 co-pay which I paid the day before surgery. Holy cow

That's crazy! I'm scared to look at mine when it comes, but I'll only owe a smal portion. My GUESS would be about $20k. I may be proven very naive

Why did you have RNY the next day? We're there complications with your VSG?

Yes, there was a kink in my sleeve. Surgery report states "obstruction." It was not good. I had difficulty breathing from the moment I woke from VSG surgery and knew something was very wrong.

Medical bills direct from a provider are largely a work of fiction. A hospital can charge whatever they want for something, and the insurance company will approve those charges only up to the maximum allowed.

That said, whoa. That's a lot

If insurance didn't pay, I'd send them a dollar a day until it was paid off.

Very true I stayed overnight I had the VSG my bill was for $105,000 I was shocked thank God for my insurances...
