I am not asking you to share your medical history on a public forum, but I feel obligated to point out that, since the sleeve doesn't really change anything except the size of your stomach, I cannot imagine what medical issue could possibly be addressed (other than obesity) by having the sleeve.  RNY, yes.  DS, yes.  Sleeve, not so much (unless you are being promised that sleeve will "cure" diabetes, which  isn't a promise anyone can make).

Something is just not right about this IMO. Surgery is VERY drastic.

Hi Farfalla,

I'm just curious who the two surgeons were that determined you were a candidate for the sleeve.  Could you please post their names?

Thanks

Your normal weight range for your height is 108 to 145 according to one website I checked. 110 to 140 on another. You can usually expect to lose 60% to 65% of your excess weight, not your total weight. So 60% of 30 lbs. 18 to 19.5 lbs. This is just a guess. You could lose more and I imagine you will if your follow a healthy diet and exercise. I wish you the best of luck.

No-one on here is going to be able to even hazard a guess as this is such an amazingly low starting weight. Even if two surgeons think that your medical condition qualifies you, do you really want to undergo life-changing irreversible, major surgery for 40lbs or less?

I am 5' 4" and maintain at around 160.  Now that doesn't make me maybe as slim as I would ideally like. But it puts me in size 10 clothes and all my health measures are good (bp, cholestrol, bloods etc).

Highest 290, Banded - 248   Lowest 139 (too thin!). Comfort zone 155-165.

Happily banded since May 2006.  Regain of 28lbs 2013-14.  ALL GONE!

But some has returned! Up to 175, argh! Off we go again,

WHOA!! hearing your story makes me wonder why my Dr. called me a lightweight lol..  I struggled to qualify for surgery with no med/factors that would help me qualify. SO im amazed at how youre able to get it.. but congrats that you'll be able to change your life. I just pray that this is the safest option for u! :)  I would say aroun 20-25lbs tops. I lost all of my percentage of excess body weight and for a "lightweight" my dr said that was amazing. So if you work out really hard and truly stick to your diet it may be even more.
