Retaining Water
So today I noticed that I am retaining water in the form of pitting edema in my lower legs, and feet. Both are very swollen and sore, I take a water pill every day but think I need to go see my doctor and have him increase it due to this fact and the fact that I am now drinking almost 64 to 100 oz of water a day.
Has anyone else had this problem on the liquid diet with water retention.
you can overdue it with too much water. I'd stay at no more than 64 ounces per day.. My boyfriend drinks too much water too, now he gurgles when he eats..

He is not drinking an excessive amount of water. As long as your urine is not clear you are fine. You want a slight yellow to it almost like the color of hay. I think the sodium in your broth could be causing some of it.
Dr. Oz just did a special about the color of urine & according to his urine chart clear is ok or 1 shade below that, very, very pale yellow.

Well that is good to know because I cut back. I was doing over two gallons a day. I am now doing about a gallon.
My urine is yellow to clear but not clear like when I take my water pill in the morning. As far as my broth it is low salt due to the fact that I make the broth my self from boiled chicken parts and the such. I boil 5 pounds of chicken and get about 2 gallons of broth. I have close to 1/2 gal of broth a day, 4 packs of jello a day, 4 protein shakes a day, a salad a day, chicken, fish, or eggs a day, 4 to 8 bottles 20 fl oz a day.
From my understanding (and I could be very wrong), drinking more water should not make you retain water. It should do the opposite by causing you to make more trips to the bathroom. And 64 to 100oz is no where near too much for a heavier person unless you have medical issues that would cause it. I could easily drink A LOT more than that at 383lbs and not retain water. I think a visit to your doctor would be a great idea!
