8 years out. Now what?

August 30, 2006 my new and improved life began.  I got my lap band.  Best decision I ever made.  I lost a over 100 lbs.  Fast forward to August 2014...I started to be able to eat more and began slowly gaining weight...Dr. visit...upper GI...slippage.  Emptied band and waiting 6 weeks to see if it corrects itself.  There is the possibility I may need a revision surgery. Doing my research.  The sleeve seems to be the "go to" surgery but I am afraid of the cutting of my insides which is why I chose the band in the first place.  8 years out is a long time and it has definitely been the answer for me.  I am also considering another band.  Who knows what types of issues I could have 8 years from now with a sleeve..but not reversible. No turning back like with the band.  Next upper GI on Wednesday and I may have a decision to make.  I would appreciate and advise and input.

Thanks for reading

Well done for your loss. My own story is similar to yours; I was banded just before you.

like you, if anything happened to my band, I would hope for another but here's hoping the slip will sort itself out and surgery isn't needed.

Highest 290, Banded - 248   Lowest 139 (too thin!). Comfort zone 155-165.

Happily banded since May 2006.  Regain of 28lbs 2013-14.  ALL GONE!

But some has returned! Up to 175, argh! Off we go again,

I know very little about life with the band. I just wanted to share that I love my sleeve. It fits my lifestyle very well. Good luck to you.
