Glad you realized and are ok!  Scary stuff!  This is a lesson for all of us pre-ops.  Thanks for being brave enough to post it.

Thank you for your sweet reply. Yes we must follow our surgeons instructions! I plan on moving on, forgiving myself and doing exactly what i am supposed to DO, not what I want to do! The DOCTOR knows BEST! I got THIS!

You know, I just feel I have to thank you for being so honest and "tattling" on yourself.  It takes a lot of courage to come onto a site like this and admit specifically the things that you admitted to.  I admire your tenacity AND your concern that other early-outs don't follow in your footsteps.

So many newly postops struggle with their surgeon's plan - partly I think because every surgeon has a different post-op diet, and we tend to compare.   Lots' of people come home from the hospital on soft foods and are quickly advanced.  My surgeon didn't give me the ok for real food until week 9.  I'm actually glad - I think I have less problems than many and can eat whatever I want with the exception of white carbs (bread, rice) which literally make me very ill.  Since I shouldn't be eating them anyway, I don't miss them very much.   But I remember wondering why my post op eating plan was so strict, and not liking it very much.

So glad you realize you have an issue and are taking steps to resolve it.

By seeing what happened to you, and what you did to yourself I'll bet  you've made a couple of folks think twice. And that's actually a good thing.

good for you on taking charge of the rest of your journey=)

I feel like if my post helps someone, admitting what i did wrong is all well worth it! I will follow my surgeons plan from here on out, NO MATTER WHAT. What i went through is just not worth it, not in any way. I feel shame posting my dirty laundry on here, but then again, SO WHAT? I feel like it was a hiccup in my journey to reach my goal.  Thank you for your sweet response and not "fussing" at me! lol! I GOT THIS NOW!

Yes, your inappropriate eating was "stupid"---but I highly doubt it caused your bowel obstruction. Bowel obstructions can be caused by several things, but the most common is adhesions. Right now, you're doing a LOT of healing in there, and adhesions are pretty common. Bowel obstruction is a potential complication after any sort of abdominal surgery, and can happen days after surgery, or years later.

Diito. Well chewed food will not cause a bowel obstruction even after WLS.

i changed my eating habits and plan on going by doctors instructions. I feel this was a wake up call, and a "hiccup" in my journey. One I wont let happen again. Whatever they saw in my abdomen, dissolved, or worked its way through...I am fine now.On clear liquids and doing EXACTY as i am supposed too! Thanks for your reply~
