I was only a month or two out, and started with the tenderest cut I could.  If you try, go for filet, prime rib or ribeye.  Anything too lean will not sit well.

I was a month out. Started with filet and now eat mostly sirloin. Like another poster said, beware dry (ie: overcooked) foods. I eat steak rare, and that added moisture helps. If a steak is cooked closer to medium or well, its much too dry for me even now.

I ate some BBQ tenderloin about 2 1/2 weeks out. I was at a family event. I cut the pieces the size of peas. It was a very small piece. I actually went to a wedding today and ordered the prime rib. Cut very small pieces, ate slowly and had no problem. Went home with the leftovers and hours later figured I needed more protein so I would take a few bites of the prime rib. Ate it too fast and it got stuck. Vomited it up like 20 minutes later. I am learning it's not just what I eat, but how I eat it.

Pureed roast beef was actually my first real food after surgery. When I graduated to soft foods, one of my first meals was filet mignon. Love steak and am SO glad I don't have issues with it. It always makes me feel the best, like I'm running on premium fuel.

Depends on which surgery you had! I can't remember when I first had it after being banded but even now at over 8 years post-op, I still have to take care and usually oniy have fillet steak.

Highest 290, Banded - 248   Lowest 139 (too thin!). Comfort zone 155-165.

Happily banded since May 2006.  Regain of 28lbs 2013-14.  ALL GONE!

But some has returned! Up to 175, argh! Off we go again,

I was cleared at 8 weeks, and have never had an issue. It keeps me feeling satisfied longer than anything else, which is a great feeling. I have some sort of steak pretty much every day.
