Trying to do this alone.
I just bought the Isopure low carb protein shakes. I don't love the flavor, but they have 50g of protein per shake. They are definitely not as sweet as some of the shakes I've had (which is actually a plus for me, since I don't love sweet flavors), but if you could go with that, it would at least help you get the majority of your daily protein in one shake, so you wouldn't need to do as many.
I just bought a bag for around $25 at GNC, but they also sell it on amazon. It is only 7 servings, but you can buy it in a bigger canister for around $50, which would last a lot longer. I know that's not cheap by any means, but with the super-high protein, it might be worth it for you.
Did your hospital/program give you a list of local support groups? I plan to attend those monthly, as I only know one person that has had the surgery done, and my other friends just don't "get" it, if that makes sense. (Even though I'm still pre-op, they are so lost when I talk WLS).
I have no advice about protein shakes, as I really don't mind the taste. However, I'm a gym addict, (yes, even at 400 lbs, lol) and have been sucking down protein shakes for YEARS.
Im 3 1/2 weeks post Op and was having the same problem with protein drinks. Just could not get them down at all. The ones the surgeon suggested where just to sweet and plain disgusting. Someone on this site suggested Unjury.com They have protein shakes and protein broth mixes that are not bad. The broth one taste like chicken soup and the shakes you can mix them with water or milk. I mix the shakes with vanilla soy milk and they are pretty good that way. They also have more protein than the fruity flavor ones and taste a lot better. They also have unflavored you can add to soups or pureed foods to get the protein in for the day. I have found this much easier and after I get my proteins in I work on my liquids, its easier if it taste good.
Hope this helps it helped me.
I was caught crying into my protein drink the first few days post op! I ended up ordering the sample pack of the nectar protein and I love it. I only do a half portion at a time as I find they start to taste like a protein drink the longer I let it sit.

I am allowed decaf coffee, so I would take a scoop of my old powder, add ho****er and make a paste, then pour my coffee onto it. I found the coffee killed most of the flavour and I could (somewhat) choke it down.
