I've been following the "be kind vs. be truthful" drama, and here's my two cents.
People have such different understandings of what rudeness is, and they are often cultural or regional. I'm from the south where you might here, "Hey honey, I'm so sorry you aren't losing weight, but remember that eating a donuts five days post op isn't on plan and you have GOT to stick to the plan if you want WLS to work." Now my mom was born in Brooklyn, and so from that side of the family you might hear, "Hey, what do you expect if you eat a donut! It's not on the plan. You have to stick to the plan. Period!" Both those comments come from the same place, people sincerely wanting to see the poster succeed.
So if someone says something a little bit brusque, try to remember they are being helpful in their own way (unless they are really a troll - in which case block them and problem solved). And if you are responding, try to remember that weight loss is fraught with complicated emotional issues that are painful and, in many cases, led to obesity in the first place, so tread a bit more lightly that you otherwise might. At one time or another we were all hurting. That's why we're here.
