ok. I am not scheduled for my gastric (rny) but I only have one drs appointment left and a urine test to prove I'm nicotine free before we can set a date. But I am 22yrs old 23 in October of this year. No kids yet but I really want kids. I'm having issues on getting info on how it will be to be pregnant after gastric. So any ladies any age that have had kids after gastric how was it? Keep in mind I have had no pregnancies prior so going to be completely new. I'm hoping to have surgery done before thanksgiving of this year. So ik Dr says to wait at least 18-24 months post I do believe.

So any info on if it was easier to conceive after surgery or someone like me who couldn't get pregnant before surgery but did after? I'm really nervous about surgery and life after it.

Thanks for any and all responses!!

There is a Pregnancy after Weight Loss Surgery forum here.  You should be able to get some good information there.

Good luck.

I had my RNY at 31, got pregnant unexpectedly at 32, and had a small, but very healthy little boy, at 33. My surgeon wasn't thrilled by my getting pregnant about 10 months out, but it wasn't planned. Everything went really well, and I continued to lose weight during most of the pregnancy. Josh was only 5lbs 12oz, but was very healthy. He's 7 now, and one of the tallest kids in his class. I regained a bit, in between my pregnancies, due to my own stupidity, but my second pregnancy, at 35, jump started my weight loss. Oddly enough, I lost 25lbs during that pregnancy, and had a 8lb 6oz baby boy lol

I had no complications with either pregnancy, and have been truly blessed with 2 perfect little boys. At 378lbs, there was no way I could've had an easy pregnancy.

Good luck to you on your wls journey!
