Which diet is the best or most pre-op / pre program friendly.

So I have a few questions to ask about which diet I should start to use while I am waiting for my program to start. I have my appointment to start the MOVE program on Nov 21st.

I have almost 3 months and would like to start losing weight but feel very lost right now and don't know were to start.

It is freaking me out a little, I find my self day dreaming about it as well, but find my self wanting more info and wanting to get it started.

Even before my 3 week pre-op diet my Doctor my doctor had me start a diet. The instructions were to eat 100g of protein a day and to not eat more than 100g of carbs not including vegetables. Some fats and olive oil OK. I did well and it was easier to follow than counting calorie etc. I did start having a shake a day during this time too (Included in the protein/carbs count) Good Luck!

You can't call it a DIET you can start simply by starting everyday with a protein shake and then have one through out the day. And start controlling your portions. Remember a life style change not a diet. GOOD LUCK

At the beginning of the year I started swapping out "meals I ate by myself" with protein shakes.  For me, that meant that I was replacing breakfast and lunch on most days with a shake.  This worked well and I lost 25 pounds between January and my surgery in March.  Plus I felt like it really helped me transition toward my new way of eating.

What diets have worked for you in the past? The only formal 'diet' that ever worked for me was Atkins.

There is NO virtue in a liquid diet. You'll stay less hungry if instead of liquid meal replacements you eat a healthy diet that's high in protein, moderate in fat, and low in carbohydrates, especially simple carbs. This is the way you'll need to eat after WLS, and it's never too early to get used to it.
