12 days out VSG & RNY and all of my incisions look good, but there is still a little knotted tie/stitch on my left side.  Is this normal?  I see the surgeon in 2 days but was wondering if anyone else had this...and is it going to hurt to remove it????  Eeeeek.

You had both VSG and RNY or revision from one to the other?

Anyway, to answer the question, after one knee replacement, I had several sutures make it to the top skin layer and poke out.  I had the surgeon remove them as they were getting caught on clothing and they hurt sometimes. Don't worry about the pain.  Just show the surgeon at your appt.

I have the same little knot, on my right side! I want to pull it out but I see my family doctor tomorrow. I agree that it's annoying and catches on clothing.

Hopefully your doc can remove it.

I had that, my body was spitting my internal stitches, they were dissolvable, so I just tugged it a littlest everyday till it came out, I have had a few more since.

My doctor said it was normal, I would check with yours, since I don't know what type of stitches you have, but it shouldn't be too concerning :-)

It was normal for me.  It fell out eventually when I wasn't paying attention.

i had vsg back on may 19th and for about 3 weeks after surgery i had quite a few issues with my largest incision.  it was knotted like you are experiencing and i couldn't understand why it hurt more than the others.. when i went to my surgeon and asked about this issue, he stated it was because that's where my stomach was taken out and because it was a larger hole they had to do internal stitches as well as the outer "glued" portions.  the pain and knot went away about a week or two later and haven't bothered me since.. just stay patient and all will be ok :)
