Just a quick update from the gal who had a VSG on 8/12/14, woke from surgery, could NOT breathe...after finally getting the nursing staff & my surgeon to believe me & 2 xrays later, apparently there was a kink in my sleeve.  I had to go back in for surgery the next day.  I was so drugged out.  I remember the surgeon saying, "If I can't fix it, I'm going to have to do a Roux En Y bypass."  I was so out of it and in so much pain of course I signed off.  I spent the next 4 days in the hospital and had a major buyer's remorse once I got home.  This is NOT the surgery I wanted.  I was pretty down for a few days (the gas inside my poor body after 2 surgeries was horrific).  I also was doing so much more damage eating sugar free pops with SORBITOL...omg stay away from these products!!!  Anyways, not trying to scare anyone, I just never thought that there could be a kink in my sleeve.  I chose the sleeve because it's supposed to have LESS complications.  I'm 12 days out from the sleeve (11 from the bypass) and I am feeling a LOT better.  I'm still on a liquid diet but the past few days I melt tiny bites of a saltine on my tongue to help settle my new tummy...it definitely helps.  Has this kinked sleeve happened to anyone else?  Thanks for listening.

So sorry to hear about all you've gone through - jeesh!  No, I didn't have a kink in my sleeve but I do know that the surgeon's expertise and experience in shaping the sleeve is extremely important in how well things work later.  Sometimes it comes down to surgeon's expertise and other times it's just the patient's physiology that leads to those kinds of complications.

I hope you start feelings LOTS better soon!
