is it common to have diahrea after surgery?

I think it stems from the sugar free ice pops the nutritionist told me I could have. Not sure or if diahrea is just common after surgery?

What surgery did you have?  How long ago?

It's probably just a case of liquid in, liquid out, and the sugar alcohol. It should get much better when you start eating slid food and taking your iron and calcium.

Diarrhea is common immediately post op -- but it's ALSO common with eating sugar alcohols, like those SF ice pops.  Beware of any sweetener that ends in the letters "tol"

I had it bad and realized it was the pops I was eating!  The second ingredient after water was sorbitol.  OMG stay away from this sweetener...the gas and diahrea were absolutely horrible!  Once I stopped eating the pops, my new tummy was so much happier.
