I hear so many cries here out  for help with weight loss .  I TOTALLY GET the need to feel attractive  after all these wasted yearz in " purgatory " ...BUT

There is SO MUCH MORE WE  WHO HAVE SUFFERED AND LEARNED  HAVE TO OFFER ... don't U think ?

Initial priority is weight loss for me. Serendipity follows.

Well, since the name of the website we are on is Obesity Help it kind of makes sense that most are here because they want to lose weight.

I don't know about anyone else but I don't come around here to talk about pets, although we do that on occasion as well.  But weight and weight loss seem to be the primary topic of conversation.

I am sure you can find plenty of self help websites to help you deal with whatever of your issues you want to deal with.

And for the love of everything that is holy, not all of us want to lose weight so we can get more attractive and snag a partner.

For the majority of us it's about getting and staying healthy.

When I see a morbidly obese person all I can think of is how much pain they must be in physically.  It hurts to carry a lot of extra weight and can lead to or contribute to many other health problems.  That is what many want to address, not fitting into model size clothes.

Well I had weight loss surgery specifically and purely to lose weight. Other benefits followed from losing weight but I didn't have it to make my hair curl or show off my abdominal scar.

Highest 290, Banded - 248   Lowest 139 (too thin!). Comfort zone 155-165.

Happily banded since May 2006.  Regain of 28lbs 2013-14.  ALL GONE!

But some has returned! Up to 175, argh! Off we go again,

If OH is not about weight loss, then I've missed the boat completely.  In my mind, OH is here for three main purposes:

1) Helping out the newbie/preop/newly postop

2) Online support for those who've had weight loss surgery and are smart enough to stay here in order to keep themselves grounded and avoid regain. (ie, support group-ish stuff)

3) Encouragement for the "re-treads":  those who, like me gained a significant amount of weight a few  years after surgery and want/need to take it back off.

There are other reasons, more specific to each individual and situation. And obviously, their bottom line here is obviously the bottom line.  I know the site is a money  maker for providers, etc.  Nothing wrong with that.

I'll get my sprirtual and emotional needs filled elsewhere.  My focus when I'm here actually IS weight loss and maintenance.

edited to add:  Coming back here really DID help me with my 40+ regain.  That's all gone again now, plus some extra.  Which is why I think #2 above is so important.
