Why did you have to have the lap band twice?  I have a lap band and hate it, want it removed and replaced with a sleeve.  I would like to know more about your journey from band to sleeve.

Absolutely would do it again!!!  One thing I would change is having the knowledge that the first year after surgery is of utmost importance to maximum weight loss and life changing habits.....I think I would have done more during that first year if I had been more aware.  Overall, it was a life changing decision for me and I am forever grateful to my now retired surgeon (Dr. Zahn, Phoenix, AZ).

What more would you have done in the first year that you didn't do? Just wondering? I am hoping to have VSG by the end of the year and any tips would be helpful.

Most certainly!  Diabetes(type 2) totally under control. blood pressure meds all gone.  I am 5 years out and feel great.  Working on taking off the 20 lbs. that I have gained, it is coming off.

I would force myself to exercise more and make it a habit. I have done great with foods, protein and feeling great but I never got into exercise. I had RNY in 2002 and lost about 100 lbs. but am not 'toned'. The greatest amount of weight loss is in the first year so maximize it with good exercise and make it part of your new life style. I found it more difficult to lose after 12-15 months. My regain has been 25 lbs. but I never got to my intended goal--exercise may have gotten me to get that last 25 lbs off and help prevent some regain.  Good luck with your surgery!

My first couple of weeks post vertical sleeve surgery I would have said no. But now, a year post surgery and I say YES!!!! Heck, a moth post surgery would have been yes. I've had no complications from it. I had a great surgeon and hospital.

I had RNY 14 yrs ago at age 50. I would have it done every year if I had to. That's how much it has improved my life, and my surgery was done open! I'm 64 now and I am living the best life because I AM alive. I don't think I would be here had it not been for my surgery.

No I would not do it again. I am wanting it reversed. I had RNY in 2000 (14 yrs ago). I have had stomach pain most days. Now have burning mouth syndrome from vitamin deficiencies. I have osteopenia due to calcium deficiency. I take calcium prenatal vitamins b12. Also have b12 deficiency. I have felt terrible for a long time and want this reversed. Anyone know of a good surgeon for reversals near Ohio. Anyone have a reversal?
