ABSOLUTELY. My DS has been the best gift I've ever given myself.

You could not pay me to have the Lap Band again under ANY cir****tances. The damage that device caused was outrageous. I'd also never have the same surgeon again, either. Part of the reason the Lap Band did as much damage as it did is because of the sub par surgical skills and aftercare.

I'd most likely not have any WLS knowing the amount of damage it can do. Of course, given my experience, I can't really imagine a pain-free existence, so I can't be impartial about other forms of surgery.

Considering I almost died twice, lost 4 years of my kids history due to hospital stays had more surgeries than I care to remember and ended up with a total gastrectomy (complete stomach removal) and  feeding tube...  NO NO NO NO! How did I end up stumping the Duke doctors on what to do next to save me? I signed an authorization to have weight loss surgery agreeing that there may be minor comixations. Don't do it!

I only regret is I wished I had had my RNY years ago..

I'm just 3 months out from surgery.   Since January with pre-diet, Optifast and surgery I've lost 110.8 lbs.

The quality of my life has improved beyond anything I could have imagined and I am sooo happy I think it actually sickens some people, including my ex husband !!! (Sucks to them haha.).

Some days are tough,  sometimes people are cruel commenting on my lose skin and all things I can't have or do.   In the end,  I have a life again and I've met some great people who are or have taken this journey.

Woo Hoo  ... WINNING by losing!!!

 SURGERY @ HRRH with Dr STARR on May 23/14 >>ORIENTATION WEIGHT 372lbs // OPTIFAST START WEIGHT 334lbs // SURGERY WEIGHT  319 lbs  // 3 MOS POST-OP 261lbs

No I would not of had Wls.

Like all other things, I believe with time and better technology it and all things work better the longer you wait, I know that don't make sense to a lot of people. Everyone likes to just move fast in this fast paced world. My boyfriend makes many mistakes because he does things without waiting and not learning about things first and I mean really learn. Like going to buy a car, you don't just buy the first one you look at, same goes for wls. You get many second opinions even third and forth opinions. Whatever kind of new journey you take on.Or ting you purchase or whatever . I honestly believe I would have done just fine without wls. This is a very serious Elective type of surgery. With all the new doctor shows on t.v. with all the good nutrition information they educate the world on , I know I could have done this weight loss on my own, Whats Done Is Done. too late now, but I have learned so much since I started this journey. I believe that 90 percent of the reason I am maintaining my weight loss (even if it was through wls) is because of them doctor shows on t.v. This is not a simple thing to get into and has many serious setbacks also, not just loosing the weight. With as many surgeries as I have had and the stress it has caused me its better to do things on your own. Honest answer here.......PeaceV Wendy

I'm only one week out from surgery. If I could go back, I wouldn't do it again. Everyone says it only gets easier, but right now, I'm pretty miserable.

I know "patience" is overused... but really, you've just had major surgery and your insides have been rearranged! You'd be miserable a week after having a knee replaced, discs fused in your back, gallbladder out, or C-section. Of course your body is grumpy right now! :)
