Every surgery has documented regain. It is not inevitable. Plenty keep the weight off, with any surgery.

6'3" tall, male.

Highest weight was 475. RNY on 08/21/12. Current weight: 198.

M1 -24; M2 -21; M3 -19; M4 -21; M5 -13; M6 -21; M7 -10; M8 -16; M9 -10; M10 -8; M11 -6; M12 -5.

I don't believe regain is "inevitable". I don't have regain at 8.5 years post-RNY. It is however, possible, with any surgery, the DS included.

I have heartburn, both pre and post sleeve. It has been well controlled with medication and I am pleased with my decision. The RNY's dumping scared me and I wasn't willing to commit to NEVER having some kinds of food again. So the sleeve was the right choice for me, even with heartburn.

Pre-op, I had terrible reflux! Many nights I slept sitting up, the reflux was so bad. I chose the DS, so I have a Sleeved stomach. It completely cured my reflux. I'm coming up on my eleven-year surgery anniversary, and still zero reflux.
