I need help with quitting smoking
Congratulations on cutting back like you did. Its hard, i know it. You can get all the advise in the world on how to quit smoking but hun in the end it's all up to you and when YOU decide you want to stop. Trust me I know how hard it is to stop. I am an ex-smoker myself. The decision for me to quit was when I got up on medication for high Blood pressure. Also, I was sick and tired of being extremely run down and out of breath all the time. One day at work I couldn't walk from my car thru the parking lot and into my office before I was huffing and puffing away. One of my fellow nurses checked my oxygen saturation level and it was 79!!!! She was ready to grab the crash cart and put me on oxygen. But to make a long story short you have to decide when u want to quit and then get the help to do it. Wheather you go talk to your PCP and get meds or if you go the patch or gum route....heck I quit cold turkey. but like what some others had said to help with the cravings.....sugar free gum, keeping your hands busy so u don't think about having to hold a cigarette. One thing that I also read about that might help.....get some straws and cut them to the size of your cigarettes and place them in an empty cigarette package. When you get the craving that you want a cigarette take one of the straws and act like you are smoking it. I know it looks extremely silly but they say it can help trick your brain into thinking it has it's nicotine fix. Good luck
