New member! In Ontario considering going to Montreal...

Hi all, I am SO great full to have found this site...

I am in Ontario and considering going the private sector to having weight loss surgery.  I am curious to see if anyone out there has done this and what the experience was like.  I have my consult via phone at 730 tonite with the Dr.  to learn more.  I have read and watched and researched I am over loaded with info and I know that this is the rite thing to do for myself but I am not sure waiting for a year or more to have it done in Ontario is rite either...so confused...anything anyone can offer will be SO appreciated...thxs for reading

I know more than one person that had surgery out of province. Mexico and Dr. Gagner in Montreal. For me, I went thru Humber and it took less than a year. For most people, it depends on where you are located and which centre you go thru. Most times it is about one year. That year by the way gives you time to do your research, get your head in the right space and have all of your tests done. While I didn't have any symptoms, they found out that I had a 100% blockage and I ended up having 3 stents put in before my surgery because one doctor insisted on having a stress test done.

OHIP is free for Ontario peeps, if you have the money and want something faster, then by all means, go the self-pay route. Dr. Aceves in Mexico was highly rated and his clinic continues now without him. Dr. Gagner in Montreal is also well known. If you want a DS however, instead of a VSG, then I'm not sure who you would go to.

Personally, I would go through the process and have the surgery in Ontario. I know so many who have problems with aftercare who had surgery elsewhere.

I would save my money for Plastics in the future once all of the weight is gone.
