5 yrs post op - found suture
Good afternoon,
i was just wondering if anyone has ever had this or experienced this. I had VSG 5 yrs ago, and I just went in for an endoscopy and they saw I have a suture hanging out my stomach, where the incision line is and its pretty long.
I habe to go see a bariatic surgeon now, since I had my VSG out of the country.
I'm not a doctor but do remember after my second knee replacement, I was having problems with being allergic to the suture materials but don't know which materials. It caused me to have an ugly scar but also, I had 3-4 pieces of suture thread sticking out of the incisions that had to be removed before they would heal completely. Of course, your surgery was 5 yrs ago whereas I am talking only a few months later.
However, it was at that time that it was explained to me, there are 2 suture lines, one on the inside and another on top of your skin. What is on the inside never really leaves your body, it sort of disintegrates. And sometimes, it does not disintegrate completely. My guess is that what they saw was that internal suture thread that did not disintegrate and the tying knot is probably holding it in place.
