Twp days post op; difficult to swallow liquids

I got the sleeve on the 31st and still in the hospital for another night.

Before I can be taken off the IV they want me to drink so much water, but every time I swallow a tiny tiny sip of water I get a horrible pain in my chest/abnomin, it feels like my insides or being squished or something and it makes it really hard to get my required water.

is this common? Has it happened to anyone else, and if so how long did it take to go away?

thank you'

It's not uncommon.  You can try taking smaller sips and also ask for different temperatures of liquid.  Warm tea might be easier than ice water, for example!

I found adding crystal light and/or drinking Luke warm water helped at first!

I just had the sleeve done on July 30th. I too had the same issue. The Dr told me that I was due to all the gas that was still in me from the anisteasia or how ever you spell that. But the morning that I was set to leave, I was able to get rid of a lot of the gas. Walking around definitely helped out.
