New Member, Waiting for Approval for the Sleeve
Hi, I am new to the site. I joined because I am just looking for people in my shoes. I am 24 and bmi 54 :( I started my WLS process in June and on Aug 6th I have my last specialist appointment and then on Aug 12th they are going to submit everything to insurance. My surgeon and Doctor keep telling me that I am for sure going to get approved. I keep preventing myself from getting excited though. I am so scared and actually started having really bad anxiety attacks about it. I have never wanted anything more in my life. I have a almost 8 month old daughter and I want this for her too. I am just fearful that i am going to get excited and then get denied.....
Sorry for my ramble. Is anyone waiting on insurance approval? Has anyone had a larger BMI and still been denied?? I also have sleep apnea but other than that and bmi of 54 I am young and healthy...I am nervous that they will deny me!!!
Hi There! I'm going through this process now too. I'm 23, bmi 39.8 with high cholesterol, pre-diabetes and PCOS- I've completed all my insurance requirements and submitted them a week ago. I've been feeling very anxious and nervous, I don't want to be denied or forced to wait. All my doctors seem to say that I'll be fine and approved but I'm afraid to get my hopes up. Would love someone to chat withthroughout this process :)
I would love to chat with you! I am not new to gastric surgery. I had the LapBand done in 2011 and lost 53 pounds. Felt great until I developed N ulcer and stomach spasms. I am now scheduled for the gastric sleeve and will have this done August 20 in Port Huron. My doctor is wonderful and I have have several friends that have done to him. My two friends lost 78 pounds and 103 pounds with no complications.
Please keep me posted on your surgery and I also will keep you abreast of mine. Lets share tips and recopies! Best wishes to you and may God bless you.
Welcome to this website. When I was going through my work up for the VSG I found loads of helpful hints and encouragement here. Most of us have walked in your shoes. We have heard the negatives and positives from friends and family. It was only through the the positive reinforcement I found here that I was able to make the decision that probably saved my life.
That was 170 pounds ago.with little to no complications.
Good luck. Feel free to question, vent or just babble on about your concerns.
As long as all your paperwork is in order, you shouldn't be denied. When I was going through the process, I was denied the first because I didn't submitt a letter from my primary doctor recommending the surgery. Once I did that, I was approved.
Good luck and try not to worry.
