Supervised Weight loss Irritation & a Q

I am on moth 4 of 6 of the required supervision

My primary is too busy to see me her self so the lady in the clinic they have me seeing talks to me about

Processed foods, fast foods, soda, portions, school cafeterias, and family

every time, same conversation

I don't eat much processed food. I don't eat fast food. I'm not tempted by it. McDonald's is a place to pee on a road trip. I haven't had a diet soda in 5 months & that's is just fine. I haven't had a regular soda since I was 10. Ok, portions sure, working super hard on that. My kids school is doing a fantastic job on foods. Her family may not be supportive, but mine gets a gold star.

So like ever other stupid dietician (or similar) appointment I have been to in the 30 years that I have lived with Type 1 diabetes & weight problems I have learned a big fat Zero from this lady.

She says if I was being compliant with my meal plan the pounds would just peal away, I just look at my shoes I wi**** was over. They probably peel off would if I had been drinking sugar soda & eating fast food and junk food to get to 312 pounds. I am down 10. The most I have ever lost. Ever.

She had WLS. Thats why doc has me working with her. But obviously her weight is from different causes. (doc reviews the notes, then signs off for ins & bariatrics)

Question 1: My hubby & I are concerned that if the weight doesn't just "peal off" now because he **Knows** I am super complaint, than what if I go thru this surgery & I dont lose weight? Does that ever happen?

Just smile and nod. Finish jumping through the insurance companies hoops and get to the other side. The surgery will take care of the portion control if you follow the plan and listen to your body.

I don't know what surgery you are going for, you should probably spend more time discussing the different surgeries with the dr & dietician cuz each surgery might have different vitamin requirements rather than going thru the grin & bear it ordeals you have at these sessions. I'm early out, 3 months post op so I'm sure there are more veterans out there that can tell you there will be times that you don't lose weight, but you're probably going to lose inches & have plenty of NSV's during the process & there's probably some regain when you reach maintenance, but if you stay on top of the plan your dr sets out for you, you should be fine. Good luck!

Before I had surgery, I was convinced that I would be the only person that WLS didn't work for.  Thankfully, I was wrong.  From all of the failed diets and attempts at weight loss, I never thought it would happen for me - but it did.

The fact that you are "super compliant" is a big advantage.  Go through the pre-op process and get on the post-op side of your surgery.  Follow what your surgeon's protocol is for eating and you'll be fine.

WOW!!! I could have written this response!!

I was also scared I would be the failure at WLS -- but being compliant is a huge advantage!  HUGE!  Just nod your head and get through the sessions.  Follow your plan and you will be fine.
