How much K1 and K2 do YOU take? What brand? Thanks for any info as I know it's been discussed before.

Just information for readers that malabsorb fat soluble vitamins (like DSers) the vitamin K complex mentioned by GwenMo is not right for you, as it's oil based.

Stick with "dry" forms of A,D, E, or K1 and K2 if you malabsorb any fat.

If you have a sleeve like GwenMo, it should be fine.

Unless you have actually been diagnosed with a Vit K deficiency, taking a supplement is not only not necessary but can be dangerous if you happen to be someone with some type of predisposition to blood clots!

Blood clots in deep veins (DVTs) can not only cause lasting physical problems with your circulation, vein health, valve functioning, continued leg swelling, etc., but can lead to an embolism and be fatal.

Take this question to your doctor and get the lab work done.

Please listen to this advice from Lora....Vitamin K affects ( effects??) INR......in plain English blood viscosity.....too much can contribute to clot formation......

No one should just willy nilly take vitamins because of something they read on the internet.....everything you ingest affects ( effects?...gotta get this word sorted out)....something else in your body....and its not so simple as one deficiency.....the body works like an eco system.....

Birdie, trick I used with my students.  Think of a sound effect. You probably know which that one is because it is one in common use.  So effect is the noun, affect the verb. Or it is in Englsh English!  American English isn't always the same!!

Highest 290, Banded - 248   Lowest 139 (too thin!). Comfort zone 155-165.

Happily banded since May 2006.  Regain of 28lbs 2013-14.  ALL GONE!

But some has returned! Up to 175, argh! Off we go again,

As others have said, get the lab work done. Vitamin K deficiency is rare, as it is absorbed lower down in the intestine and is not bypassed in RNY. It is also fat soluble, and is not excreted in the urine as excess water soluble vitamins are, and levels can continue to build dangerously high.

Too little vitamin K and your blood will not clot, which is a bad thing. Too much vitamin K and you will form unnecessary clots, a really bad thing. Vitamin K was named by the Germans, and stood for koagulation. Silly German spelling.
