What can I do???  I am 9ish weeks out from RNY and I am having seriously bad cravings for something salty and crunchy.  I was thinking maybe if I got like veggie "chips" and chewed super well or cashews where I can chew them to mush I would be ok.  Any thoughts, experiences, or ideas on this?

Are you on regular foods now?  If so, try nuts or sunflower seeds or roast some chickpeas (that's my favorite for salty and crunchy snacking).

At only 9 weeks post-op, what does the nutritional information from your surgeon say?

Veggie chips are more starch and less vegetables if you're referring to the cracker ones.  Nutritionally, cashews have (in this order) fat, carbs then protein.  To me, at 9 weeks, I would say no.  Cravings pass-don't give in to them at this early stage post-operatively.  There are other food choices that are much healthier and not potential trigger foods.

IMHO :)

Thank you!  Can't find anything about it in my instructions but I am going to look again.

I can eat some raw veggies. Still have to peel and de-seed but I do fine with most. Have had cucumber and I was ok. I can not find anything in my paperwork about nuts after my soft diet. I have been on regular since about 4 weeks out and most everything has been ok in my pouch. Thank you for the link eggface!!! I look at your site for ideas all the time!  When I said "chips" I saw some sweet potato ones, veggie ones, ones made from root type veggies, etc... When it comes to nuts I figure as long as I can chew it to mush I should be ok. I am not talking something to eat everyday, just to kill the crave. I think my body is craving salt for a reason considering I'm not normally a salty eater. What types of nuts would be the best? I don't like peanuts.

I eat one ounce of pistachios (quarter of a cup in shell) at 80 calories, 4 carbs and 3 protein as a snack.  I find them to really satisfy my need to crunch and the opening them makes the process slower.  I use snack sized baggies to pre-measure 1/4 cup servings and never more than once in a day as a planned snack.

Get Dry Roasted Edamame...  it has 14 grams of protein and 130 calories per 1/4 cup.  If you need more salt, add it...  but these are really really good. Seapoint Farms Dry Roasted Edamame
