I have to say that HIPAA should really be called the Big Pain in the Ass Act (BPITAA).

I've been married to my husband for almost 17 years. I've been covered by HIS insurance; he's been covered by mine. But I can't get the pharmacy to tell me which of his prescriptions *I* am coming in to pay for and pick up. It's ridiculous.

Could he sign a release at the pharmacy allowing them to tell you?

I have to shake my head and laugh that this topic has sprouted another whole post.   Saying it in the original post just doesn't work for ya?  It takes all kinds.

Girl I DIED laughing at how short and sweet your point was. Loved it!! ...I deal with HIPAA ALL day with my job and we say HIPAA NOT HIPPA on a daily basis too! Especially when I READ when others write it WRONG time after time gets me going!
