Just met with my surgeon and I am scared.....HELP!

Although RNY might, in fact, be your best option for GERD, getting a sleeved stomach does not necessarily make your GERD worse. My GERD was completely resolved after my DS (I have the same stomach as the VSG). My GERD was caused by a hiatal hernia which was fixed during surgery. My surgeon also left my sleeve slightly larger than normal and compensated with a shorter common channel.

There are successes with all three surgeries (VSG, RNY, and DS). Do your research! If you determine one to be your best option, fight for it!

Thank you so much for this. I just found out I have a hernia! I had an endoscopy 2 years ago and didn't remember my doctor saying this. I have to research more of this.
