Fruits

I wasn't allowed fruit in stage 2 and still am discouraged from eating much fruit … but it really doesn't matter what any of us are allowed or disallowed in each stage. It only matters what YOUR SURGEON allows.

This is going to sound crazy and it may only apply to banded people. The softer the fruit, the harder it is for me to eat. I spent years trying to work this out but have finally realised it is BECAUSE they are soft! It is almost impossible to chew melon or banana but, for me, they still need it! So although they seem soft and smooth, I tend to swallow too much at a time and it hasn't been chewed enough!
Highest 290, Banded - 248 Lowest 139 (too thin!). Comfort zone 155-165.
Happily banded since May 2006. Regain of 28lbs 2013-14. ALL GONE!
But some has returned! Up to 175, argh! Off we go again,
As almost everyone has mentioned, Stage 2 for you may not be the same as Stage 2 for me. Check with your doctor.
My program was:
- Liquids for two weeks
- Pureed foods for two weeks
- Soft foods for two weeks
- Gradual introduction of other foods
I do know that I was advised to avoid ANYTHING with small seeds, particularly strawberries, for at least six months as the seeds can lodge in the suture line and cause infection. Did your doctor's office give you any type of handout or literature on your post op diet plan?
