5+ Weeks out. Green Stool still...... Anyone heard of this??
Hi everybody,
I apologize for gracing the board with this question but I am a little concerned..... At first I didn't think it was a big deal but I am now just over 5 weeks out from having the sleeve done (May 27).... I have been able to eat for about 3 weeks .... It is nearly impossible to get my 80+gr of protein strictly through food so I am supplementing it with a protein shake. The only reason I mention this is because I have not eaten a green vegetable (or anything green for that matter) since pre surgery.... and ALL my bowel movements are green! It has been this way for about 2 weeks and I go like clockwork... once each morning..... texture and visually, shape is fine... It is NOT a bright green...its more of a dull green but they are DEFINITELY green (VERY similar to the color of this text actually lol, maybe a tad darker)...anyone ever hear of this or better yet, experienced it? Again, sorry about the unpleasant topic.....
I've had green stool b4 surgery, haven't noticed it post surgery, most times it's covered up by toilet paper and I was so not taking a closer look at it, but really I've seen a greenish tint & it has gone away. It has to be related to what you're eating or lacking in your diet. I forgot what website I went to, maybe webmd?, it talked about the various reasons of the different colors, but mention it to your dr on your nxt checkup for more info, you might need blood workup done to see where you're at.
No one surgery is better than the other, what works for one may not work for another. T-Rebel
Thank you. I have my 6 week Post-Op apt with my surgeon this Thursday the 10th. It is at the top of the list of things I want to ask. Iron sounds like it could be it! Thanks for the responses everyone.
Are you drinking or eating anything that is PURPLE? That was my first thought with this. Having 3 boys, over the years I have witnessed this! If you are drinking Something like Grape Crystal Light, I bet that could be the cause! It's the dye in it causing it. You can look it up on the web. If nothing is purple in your diet, I would speak to your surgeon for sure! Good luck.
Yes, I did look it up and it concerned me because it says its no big deal if it is occasionally and goes away after a couple of days.. this has been for over 2 weeks straight.... The only purple things I have had are Grape PowerAde Zero's. Although I do not have that flavor every day. I probably have 2-3 per week. Interesting thought! I will mention it to me surgeon on Thursday. Thanks again everyone!
