Help? suggestions welcome.

Thanks. Alma

May I suggest you see call your original surgeon's office and ask them what they think?

Do you take sublingual B-12? I'm thinking it's time for some blood work. I understand the anxiety especially because you are having these tough health issues. I wish I could offer more help but  believe you need medical attention.

Which surgery did you have? Not that it really matters as whichever it was, seeing your doctor sounds like the way to go.

Highest 290, Banded - 248   Lowest 139 (too thin!). Comfort zone 155-165.

Happily banded since May 2006.  Regain of 28lbs 2013-14.  ALL GONE!

But some has returned! Up to 175, argh! Off we go again,

I had the gastric bypass, and I no longer have insurance to see my original surgeon, I am really patiently waiting for the county to see me and hopefully give me some help

I don't know how US healthcare works. Can you go and see a family doctor? Just to get blood tests done?

Your PCP should be able to help you or refer you to the specialists.   My first port of call would be a full vitamin/mineral blood work up so you can see if you do indeed have any deficiencies and get those addressed.

The other symptoms may or may not be related.   A bariatric surgeon is a cutter and not usually an expert in any of these things, so it's no problem not to have the insurance to see one.   It is more likely you will need an endocrinologist or haematologist so save your money to see the people who would really be able to help you if necessary!

I am 10 years out at the end of this month (yikes) and have had iron deficency issues (addressed by infusions a couple of times) - any other problems I have had have not been connected with the RNY but more with getting older (which sucks!)

Thanks Kim, I will pursuit my Doctor to refer me to a specialist, I really need help, and your post gave me hope that once I get this straighten out I will reach 9 or 10 or even more years without issues, it sucks so much trying to figure out whats wrong and coming back empty.

sometimes I want to regret my decision of having surgery specially because I am almost where I started but I know deep inside I have to keep moving

thanks again!

My "guess" is that many of your problems may be related to your vitamin deficiencies, so start there.  One thing you can do right now is to be doing the right things, eating the right foods, and getting plenty of fluids.  I am closing in on my 9th year post of from DS, and have had no problems at all.

I deal with some issues that may by caused or aggravated by RNY.  I may gotten them anyway or had them all along and that's why I got fat in as first place.  Also my age and hormonal changes may have an impact (family history).

Anyway - I found out that I had food allergy (dairy, soy), plus gluten intolerance as well as isues with most grains.

Most likely I have IBS- C and really benefit from FODMAP free diet (Google it - FODMAP)

As long as I am strict with what and how much I eat - I have no major issues or pain.  But if I east some of foods that my body can't properly digest - (I e. Tortilla chips) I end up in pain and get really bad cramps that may last 2-4 days (some food irritates my gut) .  if nothing else - that is a great motivation to stick to my way of eating.

Google elimination diet - and see if eliminating some foods masy help with some issues.
