I did notice that when I have bad gas, the pain comes as well. Maybe there is a link there..... thanks

I have had 8 abdominal surgeries, and never had pain like you are speaking of after surgery. Not being able to walk is not good for many reasons, one of which is possible blos clot formation in your legs that can travel to your lungs. If the pain does not subside within 24 hours, I would speak to the doctor's office again and explain the severity of the pain, and that you are not able to leave your bed. If you don't like their answer. Go to ER.... Best of luck sweetie..

I have been up and walking around a bit, but if I stand too long is when the pain starts creeping up. It starts as a dull pain and if I don't hurry and hold that side in it will increase to the stabbing burning pain.

I have had that same pain and it does get better. The support band will help you tremendously!

Thank you so much. I know that the pain was a possible side effect, I just needed to hear from someone who actually experienced it so they can tell me how they got through it. My band should be here Tuesday, I had to order it.

The band will be a great help for applying pressure to hold your stomach stable. However time is ultimately the best solution. Day by day the pain will subside more over time. You will be alright.

Hi Basimah, I just had my bypass almost 15 days ago and I am suffering extreme burning searing pain on the left side as well. I have to hold my tummy in to even walk. I was getting better so decided to go out and do some back to school shopping for my son and ended up taking way to long. I think I really strained the stitches, but I am to the point I am screaming out loud and crying when I have to try and sit on the toilet.

What kind of support band did u get and did it end up helping?

The binder will help a lot.  I went home from the hospital with one and used it for six weeks.

I wish I would have known that at the time of my surgery, I think that pain could have been avoided all together. All that fat jiggling has to agitate the internal sutures.

Binders used to be routine with any abominable surgery.  No longer routinely given out as a cost-saving for the hospital.  I was willing to pay for one, but insurance covered it.  How long is it going to take to get the one that you ordered?
