Approximately how long is the wait from doctors referral to receiving an orientation date?

My doctor has just sent my referral (Hamilton).  While I realize the process takes quite some time I am just curious as to how long it takes before you hear anything after the referral is made and the whether you hear via phone or mail.  Do you wait months then receive notification of the orientation date? Or do you find out the orientation date quickly but the orientation date is several weeks/months away?

Hi there  I am from Stoney Creek and my Dr put in the request in aug notified me I was approved end of aug I got a letter late sept saying I was to come to an orientation date Feb 2 so I did that . I then received a letter in May telling me I have an appointment in October the 6th  So for me it has not been a speedy process. I have heard of others going a lot quicker and that once u get your first appointment it goes quite quickly.  So we shall see! I wish you the best :)

Hi, I am from Oshawa Ontario.  My doctor sent my referral in Jan/14, and I got a package in the mail in April/14.  My information session is booked for September/14.  Just hang in there.
