Does one serving (an 8 ounce cup) of cream of wheat seem too much 10 days out? I love it and I'm not seeing any ill-effects.

What surgery did you have ? What your doc program recommended?

Yes, too much.....you can't feel the fullness yet.  Did your surgeon give you a meal plan to follow?  I was eating no more than 1/4 - 1/2 serving sizes at only 10 Days  post op.

I'm six months out and can't imagine eating a cup of anything!  I max out at about 4-5 ounces depending on the density of the food.  At 10 days, my instructions were to eat 1-2 ounces.

Check with your program, surgeon or dietician to see what is suggested.

Congratulations on your surgery!

Rather depends on the surgery! At 10 days out with my band, I might have been able to. Can't really remember but I think I was probably having about that amount at a time IF it was not too thick and totally smooth. But it sounds a lot for the other surgeries,

Highest 290, Banded - 248   Lowest 139 (too thin!). Comfort zone 155-165.

Happily banded since May 2006.  Regain of 28lbs 2013-14.  ALL GONE!

But some has returned! Up to 175, argh! Off we go again,

I can't imagine eating 8 ounces of anything at 3 months out, much less where you are. And cream of wheat seems like a poor nutritional choice in general.

I agree about it being a poor nutritional choice, but it was on my plan, too. Just not a whole cup!!

Not a great choice, but many RNY surgeons have it on the plan for the first couple of weeks because it does down easily, you can add protein powder to it, and it digests easily.  It is the same reason they allow soupy mashed potatoes.

I think as others have stated, it depends on your surgery and what YOUR plan allows.

I am 14 days out VSG and I can't eat that much of anything. However, honestly I am not sure if I have even tried.

I know that I cannot truly feel hunger yet, my nerves were severed in my stomach - therefore I can't trust anything " I think" my sleeve is telling me.

Plus, I am trying to practice early out to under eat my sleeve since this is what many successful vets really live by.

I know my plan suggested Cream of Wheat and such especially now early out. I just won't eat it after I looked at the carbs and calories. I know I wouldn't be eating a lot, but I just don't want a whole bunch of carbs back in my life. I'm going to try to keep them low as I go toward my goal. I just felt it wasn't worth it. Not enough bang for the buck!

I would look at your plan again, and find out how much you should eat per sitting and go from there. If you feel you can handle it based on everything / go for it. I just couldn't.
