How long did you wait to call insurance?

My surgeons office submitted to insurance on Tuesday. I was just wondering how long you waited before you called to see if you were approved or did you even call.  How will I know if I'm approved or not if I don't call.  Is there an actual letter that comes? (Ugh snail mail) Does insurance call or does my dr. office call? I know every insurance is different just wondering what you did.

I called after 8 business days.  It was approved once actually submitted in 10 days.

I called after a week.  I was told it could take 14 business days before it was approved -- and that's how long it actually took.  It's so hard to wait!!  My surgery was on a Wednesday, and I didn't get approval until 4:30 the Friday before - had to have my pre-op tests done on Monday. I was so nervous the surgery would have to be delayed - but it worked out. 

So hard! I'm a VERY impatient person. My surgeon won't schedule anything or even do a pre-op visit until approval. I got to have a consultation visit 6 months ago but now I'm completely waiting on approval to move forward. 

This is my first post on this site. My doctor submitted all my info and was able to get approval in 4 hours. Bariatric nurse told me she never seen this happen so fast. Not sure if I am great candidate or something else is going on. Either way my surgery is set for July 30TH.Good luck.
