BCBS Federal

Just curious if your insurance approval expires.... I have BCBS Federal and July will be my 3rd (and final) nutrition consultation.  All of my other tests have been completed.  My question is, once the insurance company makes a determination (approval), how long is the approval good for?  I'm not eligible for FMLA until the end of November and I'm not able to take any time off in December.  As bad as I hate to, the earliest I'd probably be able to take time off would be January.  Will I have to repeat my testing or will I be able to schedule that far out?

I have fbcbs but as a secondary insurance, the best thing is to call them and ask. I have had to make many calls to them and have always had luck with them answering my questions unlike my other insurance. But some where along the line I was told as long as it was done within a year you should be good. But again I might be mixing up the two insurances. You can find their number on the back of your card. If you can't get a straight answer from them ask to talk to their manager. Good Luck with your journey

I have BCBS Fed as a Secondary too but it was my primary when I started the process.  I was scheduled for surgery in the Sept-Oct timeframe when my surgeon had a family emergency.  I was on hold until January with no problems.

The same thought occurred to me then and his insurance guru stayed on top of it to retain approval.

I would suggest that you start with your surgeon, who is on your side, to see what they recommend.

Good luck with this all.
