I had my gall bladder removed when I had RNY so I lost weight due to the WLS.  I've had two friends that had gall bladder surgery and their weight stayed the same.

I think if you reduce your fat intake of fatty foods, avoid cooking with oil and focus eating lean proteins will be important for weight loss.

Cathy, a much as respect different opinions - lowering fats did not helped me lose weight - just tyher opposite,

Only when I realized natural fats are healthy - butter, coconut oil, nuts , avocado , etc - I notg only feel better (less joint pain) but I also have no problem maintaining or loading weight.

When I limited fasts - not only my proteins to carbs ratio was too high, but I also noticed that my body got very efficient into turning lean proteins into blood sugars - and stop being efficient in burning fats.

Increasing fats, limiting carbs helped me get the balance my body needed,

And increasing fats - limited my hunger and allowed me to reduce total calories, while not getting hungry or dealing with low blood sugar.

The low fat diet to lose weight - may work for somer people for some time - but good natural fat it has be proven to assist in weight loss while maintaining lean body mass.
