New experience

Hello all!

I'm just wondering if anyone has had the experience I'm having right now. I am 2 weeks post-op, and struggling to meet my protein quota. I'll be glad when I can stomach purees because I'm finding it a real challenge to figure out what tastes okay with protein powder. I made this concoction tonight that tastes terrible, but when I drink some I can physically feel my brain saying "YES, drink more!!! this is what we need!!", but my tongue is just not in agreement, lol. I'm going to drink it anyway because I know it's super good for me. Has anyone had this rather conflicting experience?

Thanks for your thoughts! ♥

Play around with different protein drinks.  It took me quite a while to find some I like.  You can get a ton of samples at vitalady.com.

You can find a bunch of really yummy recipes for protein shakes and also hot protein drinks at bariatricfoodie.com.

I just had my surgery last week and I have found that the easiest protein shake for me to consume is the ensure active which has 25 g of protein and 210 cal. It comes in a 14 ounce bottle in vanilla and chocolate and taste way better than any powder or other supplements that I have tried

Thank you for the protein suggestions, I will try that! Right now I'm drinking Glucerna, but it only has 8.2g of protein, and I can only drink so much of those. I have two types of protein powder, some vanilla and some plain. I haven't had any luck at all getting the plain one into anything, it alters the taste and texture too much to me and really ruins whatever I'm eating so far. I'm still hopeful that I'll be able to find something I can put it in that won't bother me. Incidentally, I ended up dumping out more than half of that junk I made the other night, haha. Live and learn!
