Hi Staci,

Welcome to the OH community.  Congratulations on your VSG surgery and commitment to a healthier you.

It can be difficult to distinguish between physical hunger and head hunger.  Check out Hunger versus Satiety article for the hunger scale.  Maybe that will help.

You can get some good information and support from members on our VSG board.  Check it out too.

Hi, I am a newbie to ObesityHelp and wanted to join after visiting several times and getting help by reading the forums. I had RNY surgery on 3/18/2014 and have lost 40 pounds and 3 diabetes medications- I'd like to loose 40 more pounds and lose diabetes forever. I lost very quickly in the first 4 weeks and then the last month, I've been at a standstill.  My fear is that maybe this will be all I will lose or worse, I'll start regaining and the diabetes will come back.

It's been encouraging to see comments regarding variable weight loss patterns and plateaus with many people.

Welcome to ObesityHelp as a member of the OH community.

Congratulations on 40 pound loss and ditching your diabetes medications.  Stalls are perfectly normal.  After losing 40 pounds, your body is in an adjustment period.  Keep on track with your healthy eating choices and exercise.  Your weight loss will pick back up and you might be able to decrease or stop your meds.  Outlast your stall!

Hey everyone!! I'm new here! I was sleeved on 6/3/14. I came across this site and looked like a good place to come and meet fellow WLS people. :)

Hello all.  I am 10 days out of sleeve surgery.  I joined OH to hopefully find some support because I am getting more advice than I could ever use.  I did clears my first week, week two, I have had like 2 teaspoons of sweet potato, one bite of mashed potatoes and gravy, don't like any of my "cream of" soups, I have no appetite, and I am not taking in anywhere near 64 ounces of water daily.  I was hoping someone here can tell me I am hopeless.  Maybe someone else has felt this way?

You're not hopeless at all!  It is common to struggle getting in your 64 ounces of fluid.  You might try a protein drink because that will get in your protein and fluid.

Call your surgeon's office if you're concerned.

Welcome to OH!

Hi, I'm Betsy from Eastern North Carolina.  I am 65 years old and have been approved for RNY and have a surgery date of July 11.  I am scheduled for an IVC Filter placement on Tuesday and have my last pre-op visit with my surgeon Thursday and start the liquid diet on Friday.  I am actually about as nervous about the IVC procedure as I am about the surgery.  I started out at 280 and needed knee surgery but no one would touch me until I lost weight.  I lost and gained for the past 3 years and still haven't had the surgery but am down to 235.  I'm hoping weight loss will help some with my back pain and make walking a little easier.  Also am doing this for my health and to be able to be there with my husband more who is battling cancer.  I am learning so much from reading everyone's posts.  Thanks for letting me join.

We're very happy you joined ObesityHelp.

Did you talk about your concerns about the IVC procedure and your RNY?  If not, call them and talk to either your surgeon or staff.

You might also post on the General Discussion board (this one) and the RNY board

Hi all! My name is Gianna and I am brand new to this forum and weight loss surgery in general. I am 5'3.5" and just about 240 lbs. I am a recovered bulimic and hope that doesn't hurt my chances of getting the ok for surgery. I haven't even talked to my doctor about considering surgery yet but plan to very soon. I have tried losing weight throughout the years and have always ended up gaining it back whether it was losing weight in an eating disordered way or a healthy way. I am too young to be this heavy (with a BMI of over 40) and I an deathly afraid of obesity comorbidities such as diabetes and heart issues that run in my family. I believe having WLS will be a great preventative measure and get me back into being as active as I was before I became this large.
