I am a RNY, 10 years post-op. Often times when I eat, I become very tired. Immediately. Does this happen to you??

I have never joined a support group and am thankful for an online group to discuss questions and life-after-RNY.

Thanks!

I am a newbie, but the first time I had egg drop soup that happened to me, literally I thought I was going to fall asleep right where I was out. I believe its all normal with the way our system is now rearranged, or that is my hope. I too am thankful for this sight. It defintely let's you know that you are not alone!

Do you still journal your food? If not, start. You'll probably find that your sleepy times correspond to carb-heavy meals. It's a mild form of dumping.

This is AWESOME advice! I haven't written down food in years. How silly of  me. Thanks. It's great to know I'm not alone.

Carbs don't cause dumping, only sugar. If it was a carb heavy meal, it is probably reactive hypoglycemia. We really need a lot more information to make much of a guess though.

If I eat too much... (Like tonight - ugh)  or eat too many carbs - I have hard time staying awake.

The "too much food" at one sitting does not have to be carbs, just too much food at once fort mu poor pouch to handle. (Too much is relative)
