The app did it for me.  I just put in my height and weight.  It comes up with a rediculous calorie alortment, but I just ignore the numbers they give me.  Good luck to you!

That's a very low calorie allotment.  My NUT wants me to aim for 1000 cal a day.  I can't get to that yet, but I have gotten to 800 several days.  I would suggest you not concentrate on the calories.  Concentrate on getting your protein in instead.  You should have protein at every meal and it needs to be eaten first, before anything else on your plate.  If you are eating ice cream or frozen yogurt for dinner, you will not be taking in enough protein.  If you have to, rely on shakes or supplements like Syntrax Nectar drinks to get there.  If you take in only 500 calories during the day, you will be putting yourself into starvation mode where your body will hold on to the fat and resist losing weight.  Are you working with a NUT?  You don't sound like you received much guidance around setting up a healthy workable food plan.  You must be getting in 60-80g of protein per day and close to 64 oz of water per day.  Once I eat my 2oz of protein at a meal, I rarely have room for anything else.

judy700 sorry it took me so long to reply, thank you so much for all your great advise...I am currently working with a nutritionist and shes guiding me as to what to eat but there are times I don't feel like eating whats on the menu, I rather go for the string cheese or the yogurt and snacks instead of the meal itself...I did notice on the weight scale that my nubers haven't gone down :( I also started excersicing and I notice that I drink a lot of water during that one hour of speed walking/jogging ...for example today for breakfast im having a light yogurt, almonds and half an apple...I think that's a lot for my tummy right??!

I received a book from the hospital / surgeon that gives a listing of all kinds of foods that tells how many ounces = how much protein.  This is all still new for me and I am 8 months post-op.  I have developed an intolerance to whey and dairy.

My NUT has told me that every ounce or meat has about 7gr of protein...so if you eat 3oz of chicken you are at 21gr of protein.

Yogurt, cheese, eggs etc you can look on the package for the info or just plug it in myfitnesspal.

Good luck!

Pretty much all animal-based forms of protein---actual animal flesh or animal byproducts like eggs and cheese---have 6 or 7 grams of protein per ounce.
