Looking for Support Buddies :]
Hello,
My name is JB Calhoun, I'm 42, married, and live in Ohio. I'm going to be getting the RNY procedure done very soon. I don't have a option to get this surgery done. this surgery means Life, or Death, for me. you see, due to being a Diabetic for the last 14 years, both of my Kidneys are now shutting down, and have CHF ( Congestive Heart Failure ) all due to this weight problem that I had for 42 years. without this weight issue, I wouldn't had been a Diabetic, nor would I have my Kidneys shutting down. I'll be truthful, I'M ONE SCARED RABBIT, knowing that if this surgery doesn't do what I need it to do, and that is to lose this weight, and not being a Diabetic any longer, I'll be one DEAD RABBIT pushing up Carrots... If I can I'd like to be part of your group too. Thanks and have a great day...

Hi, I am Jenifer. I am 39 and live in Cincinnati OH. I don't have a date yet either. I have met my surgeon and gone to two classes. I have two more classes and psych eval to go. They are all scheduled and I will be done the end of June. I am really hoping to have surgery by the end of July. I don't have children which is why I am finally doing this. I want to adopt and I would like to have the energy to raise kids on my own and be around when they have children of their own. I will be having bypass surgery. Good luck to you and hope we can support one another.
Hi Samantha. It looks like many of us on this thread are in the same boat just waiting. I am also new to the boards, however I have lurked since I went to my seminar at the Cleveland Clinic way back in December! Yesterday, I started my Pre-Op Liquid ( Ugh you know the word lol) for my upcoming surgery on June 17th and figured I needed to take the plunge and join! I thought I need to keep busy and needed to have extra support in place.
The only people that know about my upcoming surgery are my husband and my older boys. For me this is about me and my journey and right now, I am not ready to share with others. I have 7 "best friends" and it will be really hard not telling them. I know that they would be very supportive, but I feel that I need to walk this path alone along with my husband. I am very fortunate because my husband is very supportive 100%. He knows how important this journey is to me.
I would love to be able to talk to people *****ally get what is going on with me so having this "support group"/friends would be great! I will add you as a friend... Plus I see there are some more Ohio people here...-Waving hello!
I hope the next couple months goes by quickly for you and the rest of the group.
Thank you so much for the message. Your date is so close! I am very excited for you! I think telling people is totally up to you. I have a close group of people who know, but I don't plan on announcing it to the public. This lifestyle change is for US, not for anyone else. Glad to have you in my support circle! :]
