Tijuana Mexico safety
I went with Dr. Ariel Ortiz at Obesity Control Center. He was fantastic! I would recommend him to anyone. They are an international center of excellence, and it shows. Everything went really well. :)

The country isn't as big a deal as the surgeon, and now that you clarify who your surgeon is, I cannot recommend strongly enough that you research him and pick another. There used to be posts here about that clinica, and none of it good. Can't suggest this strongly enough.
Here is a link to someone who asked the same question as you, and there were some informative links posted to her.

I've been to Mexico and it's not that bad. I've also been to New York, and that was a lot scarier. A lot of staying safe is common sense. Don't carry a big purse with a long strap or someone may cut the strap and steal it. Don't talk to people you don't know and never follow anyone who asks you to...even if it's a child, even if they say they need help and seem sincere. Don't keep all of your money in one place, hide it here and there in your clothing. Don't keep more than $15 in one place. Also, make a copy of the front and back sides of all of your credit cards in case they're stolen. You'll need the phone number off the back to call them in. Also, don't keep this paper in the same place as your cards or in your purse. A lot of people recommend Traveler's Checks, but I've never used them, so I don't know how easy they are to use. It's not common for people to steal from your hospital room, but it could happen. Leave tempting items at home (rings/jewelry, electronic gadgets, etc), or if you do take them with you, keep them in your suitcase/bag and keep your bag locked. You can buy small carry-on bags with locking zippers for maybe $20-30 at just about any department store. If you have a large/expensive wedding ring, I would definitely leave it at home...you're only going to be gone a few days anyway.
P.S. The doctors you're discussing are in America. America is a continent, not a country.
Thank you so much for all the advise. After talking with others I have decided to take my husband along for the ride. I know he will keep my best interest at heart while I'm recovering and it will be much easier for him to keep up with everything and get me back in The US in case of an emergency. TY again.. Y'all's replays have helped so much
