Irregular menses

It's normal. A lot of junk is stored in fat cells, including estrogen. When you are in the rapid weight loss right after surgery, it's all getting dumped into your system and periods can be horrible.
It usually stabilizes after a few months, but if you have heavy and/or frequent bleeding, be aware that your iron is literally going down the drain with the blood. Have you iron checked, and you may need to take extra or even get infusions.
I had surgery 1/2014. I also have PCOS and NEVER got my period. Since my surgery, I have had it 5 times in 4 months. It sucks and they are heavy but I know they will level off. My husband says that no woman that has regular monthly cycles feels badly for me as I am making up for 20 years where I got a break...lol
Totally normal. Even with being on BCP, my period has been odd :P

Yup, totally normal. I've had an IUD for about three years and didn't have a period since it went in... until surgery. Now I've had a very light period every month since then. No cramps, fortunately, but a day or two of spotting, which is WAY better than things were before I had the Mirena put in!
Most women who haven't dealt with menopause or had hysterectomies report similar changes, so this is very common :)
