Post VSG food- Will I Ever Eat Again?

I was fortunate enough to have my VSG on 4/15/14. Since my strict pre-op diet on the 1st, I've found myself with an irrational fear that I'll never get to eat solid food again.

Sounds dramatic, I know

Does it get easier?. I feel like I am being bombarded with summer/food commercials. Just reaching out to people have gotten past the liquid /soft food phase.

I had my VSG in mid-March and I'm able to eat anything I want to eat now.  Not a lot of it, but nothing I've tried has been problematic.

That's good to know. I think I have liquid fatigue.

By the end of my post-op liquid phase, I was so fatigued.  The day I could switch to purees was a VERY happy day in my home!

At least yours is summer time foods.  When I finally have my surgery it will probably be around Thanksgiving or Christmas.  All the time of wonderful food.  But having the surgery and losing weight will be better for me.

Had my VSG on 4/10, 6 weeks later got to have soft foods, yumm. My wife took me to Longhorn and we split the grilled shrimp dinner. I had 4 shrimp and 2-3 bites of sweet potato! It was delicious. Next step in two more weeks I can have salad raw veggies and nuts. Yay

The hardest part is getting through the damned liquid phase.  Your first bite of mushies will be like heaven on earth.  I think my first bite was a little bit of scrambled egg.  I took maybe two bites and it was amazing.  It's tough, but hang in there!  There's a light at the end of the tunnel, I promise :)

band to sleeve revision and loving life!

You do you, and I'll do me

Clear liquids phase is truly the worst. Hold tight because real life and real food will be happening soon.

I am 10 months out and can watch food shows etc without blinking an eye. Food just isn't as appealing to me.

Good luck.
