Am I being overly sensitive?

I think he's being  a bit unreasonable wanting you to lose that much.  It's not like we never tried, for the love of Pete.

For sleeve vs. bypass -- the sleeve isn't getting great results with the lightweights, but not so much for those your size, which is probably why he's recommending bypass.  It has a metabolic change that gives you an extra edge.  If you really want a sleeve stomach too, you can get that added edge along with the sleeve with the Duodenal Switch, but you'll likely have to change surgeons, as not nearly as many do that procedure.  The DS surgeons are a lot more understanding and won't be putting such hard demands on you, either.

You can throw a stick in any direction and find a surgeon who does RNY or sleeve.  I say tell him to pound sand and get another surgeon.

This makes me mad.  Fat bias is very real in the medical industry, but I never expected it from a weight loss surgeon!  I SMH at these people.  It's like they think that we sit around all day and shovel fast food into our mouths (like on that show my 600lb life) and if we would just stop doing that, we wouldn't be so fat--and why don't we know this???  Yes, I realize that we didn't get where we are by eating air, and I can only speak for me, but I know I try to diet every single day and it doesn't work.  I am so hungry all the time...even if I eat a good breakfast, eat every couple hours, and even if I skip meals, and that is what I am PRAYING that this surgery helps with (I am just beginning this process).

Anyway, my first instinct would be to tell you to switch surgeons, but that may not be feasible at this point.  The only "constructive criticism" I can offer you is to suck it up and try to think happy thoughts while you are dealing with this idiot and playing his stupid number games.  I'm definitely not going to tell you that you aren't trying enough (and I'm not sugar coating anything, I have no doubt that you are trying).   I'm sending positive thoughts your way and please let me know how it turns out.
