Sneakers what do you wear?
Sneaker comfort is very subjective. You'll want to try on several different pair. For every day, I have an assortment of Vans, Skechers, Merrills etc, but for srs walking, I have a pair of ASICS I like. I've never gotten along well with Nike because they've just never fit my foot right.
If you're just getting started with jogging, I advise going to an actual running store and getting the right shoe for your gait to avoid injury. Once you know what sort of shoe you need, go crazy at DSW! :D

As a former runner/racewalker, I cannot agree more with jenorama. A specialty running store is your best bet for a proper fitting of a shoe. Many stores even allow you to try them bring them back if they don't work out. In my area, they are often staffed by folks who run themselves, so they "get you". My favorite brand is Brooks, that may not be the right brand for you. Do not be too shocked at the prices of high quality running/walking shoes, then can be quite expensive. I assure you, a good quality shoe can really make a difference in your jogging/walking experience. It is so important to help prevent injury. Good luck to you!
Ditto on the Asics! I went to a specialty running store where they put you in a flat shoe and have you walk on a treadmill while your legs are being filmed! They then watch it back slow motion and see if your foot tends to go in or out. Then, I stood on a sensing surface that showed where my arch was. Since I apparently pronate (arches go in while I walk) they recommended Asics. They were $150 but I wear them to the gym 5x a week and they are PHENOMENAL. Good luck!
I highly recommend going to a running store and getting fitted properly for shoes. It's a super experience. I have the best sneakers ever thanks to my local Pacers store.

Everyone is going to be different when it comes to sneakers. I use all-terrain New Balance sneakers, I've been using them for the last two years or so now. Go with a style and brand that works for you and feels good on both feet. When you buy a sneaker for walking, slow jogging, etc. get a good quality sneaker, it can do wonders for your feet. I get my sneakers/shoes from Famous Footwear. The other two brands that I go with besides New Balance is "Rockport" and "Skechers". Once in a rare blue moon I go with another brand that I know that will be good for my feet.

I have had a number of foot/ankle surgeries. My orthopedic surgeons have all recommended New Balance.
They work for me because the have more of a box toe and, specifically, a series of shoes called Motion Control. This shoe is particularly good if you have arch issues. My current shoes are the 1540s. Soooo comfortable!
