Can't believe what the Wls Surgeon said to me
He's a weight loss surgery surgeon that I went to see about a possible Hernia. He is not my weight loss surgery surgeon. Though after meeting him for the first time and enjoyed what he said about Weight Loss Surgery, I wish he was. I Started talking about my Weight Loss journey, told him who did my wls, even though I was there for other reasons. He said he actually does not perform the Rny and would not recommend it. He only performs The Sleeve.. He said many complications happen later down the road after Rny. OMG I said. that's me. God , I was so happy to hear him say that. Sounds like he's genuine. Not out for just the money for his line of work. Been a long time since I met a genuine doctor or surgeon.
I wish I had met this surgeon before I had my Rny Wls..I originally wanted the SLeeve..He came to work at the same Hospital that I had my Open Heart surgery and stents done in 2007.I didn't know about him until 2012. Maybe then I wouldn't be saying for a long time That I have regretted having wls.. I am still in awwwwwee thought I'd never hear about any doctors or surgeons that are still genuine.. Whats done is done..

I guess we all have different experiences.
So far I couldn't be happier with my RNY, but then again I haven't had any complications. It's been very effective for my GERD and other health issues.
But progress is made and things change and hopefully get more effective. I'm glad I didn't have my surgery done years ago, but you're right, I have what I have, and that's what I get to work with.
I'm sorry you have had so many complications.

I'm betting as the years go by and medical knowledge and technology get ever-more-advanced that we'll hear a lot of this about all the WLS.
We're hearing it now about the lapband, which everyone thought was the rat's ass years ago. You're hearing it now about the RNY, which has always been held up as the "gold standard". I'm certain that within the next 10-20 years we'll have backlash against the DS and the VSG as new and more effective methods of WLS are developed.
It's just the way medicine works.
